Due to the increase of speed, the power density of servomotor is greatly increased. This means that whether the servomotor needs to be matched with the gearbox, its determinfactor is mainly from the application requirements and cost consideration to consider. This is necessary when the load must be moved and accurately positioned. It is usually like aviation, satellite, medical treatment, military technology, wafer equipment, robots and other automation equipment. Their common feature is that the torque required to move the load often far exceeds the torque capacity of the servomotor itself. And through the gearbox to do the servo motor output torque improvement, can effectively solve this problem.

Output torque promotion way, may use directly increase the servo motor output torque mode, but this way not only must use expensive magnetic materials, motor has a stronger structure, the increase of torque is proportional to control the increase of the current, using the larger drive, power electronic components and related mechanical and electrical equipment specifications, and will make the cost of the control system increased significantly.

Increasing the power of the servo locomotor is also the way of increasing the output torque, which can double the power density of the servo system by increasing the speed of the servo locomotor, and does not need to increase the specifications of the control system components such as the drive, that is, no additional cost. And this needs to be through the combination of the gearbox to achieve the purpose of "deceleration and improve torque". So the development of high-power servomotors must be combined with a gearbox, rather than omitted.
