What are the differences between nickel-plated rollers and chrome-plated rollers?

Durability

The coating on their surfaces can improve corrosion resistance, making them suitable for use in environments such as acid and alkali solutions. While both types of drums are corrosion-resistant, studies have shown that electroless nickel plating is superior in corrosion resistance. Electroless nickel plating can form a more uniform coating on the surface of the roller, effectively preventing corrosion on the roller surface. Nickel-plated rollers and chrome-plated rollers are both good choices. If corrosion resistance is a priority, you can choose a nickel-plated roller.

Hardness

Chrome or nickel plating of the drum will help reduce wear. Usually hard chrome plating is used for chrome plating on the surface of the drum. Hard chrome plating is known for its hardness. After chromium plating, the Rockwell C hardness of the roller surface is between 68-72, while the surface hardness of the nickel-plated roller is slightly lower than that of the chrome-plated roller.

In general, chrome plating and nickel plating of rollers can protect equipment and parts from wear. If hardness is given top priority in the selection process of these two rollers, you can choose chrome-plated rollers.
